Silverton is a city in the Marion County part of Oregon. Salem also includes it in the Salem Metropolitan Statistical Area. This town is one of the only communities that was created to fit its local enviroment. Founded by Polly Coon Price, he planned the whole town around a large old Oregon White Oak. Later naming it Silverton after Silver Creek.

As of the last Census, there are currenty 15,988 active residents. The total population density is 90 people per sq mile.

Out of the 5,517 households 52% of them are married couples, and 41% are non-family residents. Either single or living with someone else.

The median income for a household in Silverton is $38,429 and the median income for a complete family is $46,196. The per capita income is $18,062. Only about 10.4% of the families are under the poverty line.

Silverton is  most well known for its gateway to Silver Falls State Park. Which is Oregon's largest state park. It is also the home home to the famous Oregon Gardens. Which is an 80 acre garden park.
