Prineville is a special little city, being the county seat for Crook County, it is the largest city in the county with just over 9,230 people. The town gets is name from its first local merchant, Barney Prine.

As of the last census, the population fell just over 9,233 people. With 3,698 households, and 2,340 famlies.

The median income per household is $30,438, with the median income per family at $36,567. Only about 10% of families fell below the poverty line.

The main employer is Les Schwab Tire Center. A retail chain store that specializes in tires and brakes. Today it operates over 390 stores.
