Keizer is a thriving community close to Salem, Oregon's capitol, and is located in Marion County. It was named after a well liked pioneer named Thomas Dove Keizur. Keizur arrived in the Wagon Train of 1843. Shortly after that, he filed land claims to where Keizer stands today.  Somewhere along the way, the spelling of Keizur's last name got mangled and changed to Keizer.

The original settlement for Keizer was near the banks of the Willamette River. The area is well known for having multiple massive floods during 1943, 1945, 1946, 1948 that stunted their economic growth. It wasn't until 1950 that dams were built to regulate the flow of the Willamette.

As of the last city census, there were 32,203 people, in a total of 12,110 households. With 8,646 families residing. The population density is 455.7 people per sq mile.
